You probably will not like this answer, and I am sure it will make some people mad, but it is my answer, and that is what you asked for thermal, gravitational potential and kinetic. None of these is inherent to the crystal but is a consequence of its relationship to its surroundings. The thermal energy is due to its temperature – the higher the temp, the faster the atoms vibrate, and the warmer the crystal is. Its gravitational potential energy is related to its vertical position relative to some reference point. Its kinetic energy ( energy of motion) depends on its speed – the faster it moves, the more kinetic energy it has.
